French: Day of Languages
About This Product
A fun activity for your older French students to do on September 26 for the Day of Languages.
Your students might be surprised to find out that animal noises are described differently depending on the languages. For example a dog is said to go " ouaf ouaf" in French, "guau guau" in Spanish and "wan wan" in Japanese.
In this .zip folder, you will find:
- 12 posters of animals and sounds to display
- a Powerpoint presentation with these 12 images (should you wish to project these on your board)
- 2 worksheets and their versions with answers (.pdfs; non-editable)
Each poster has an illustration (an animal) with 3 speech bubbles ( for the sound they make in 3 different languages) and a question (written in French) asking for the sound that animal makes in a fourth language. Your student will need to use the Internet to look up the answer and then record it on the worksheet.
The 12 animals are:
- bee
- bird
- cat
- cow
- dog
- frog
- duck
- lion
- mouse
- owl
- pig
- rooster
how you could use it:
put the 12 posters up around the classroom/ the department/ the school
Give them the 2 worksheets to fill in on the go
For those who finish early, the second worksheet gets students to find the French verb for the English. For example: aboyer (to bark)
** Please note: Students will need access to Internet to answer **
